Salon: Fou de Moi

December 21, 2018

Over the last 22 years, stylist-extraordinaire Martin Gironne has created a name for himself working at some of Montreal’s top salons, such as Orbite, LaCoupe, and Interbeauté. He recently embarked on a new chapter in his life, opening his own salon, Fou de Moi. More than just a name, Fou de Moi – “crazy about me” – is a way of life that encompasses looking better, feeling better and living better.

The indefatigable Gironne has poured every ounce of his being into this elegant little salon on tony Bernard Avenue. Nestled among the trendy boutiques, upscale restaurants and sidewalk cafés, Fou de Moi is an oasis of peace and tranquility. The decor is unique and eclectic. Such incongruous elements as concrete, Formica, glass and wood have been brought together with finesse to create a space that is understated, elegant and inviting. Designed and largely built by Gironne and his associate Anastasia Rawicz, the salon is an extension of Gironne’s own personality: friendly, witty and warm.

The salon is European-inspired, both in its appearance – characterized by clean lines, architectural detailing and crisp white furnishings – and in its holistic approach to hair care. Fou de Moi espouses the philosophies and techniques of Rene Furterer, treating the hair and scalp as living entities that require nurturing through customized preparation, treatment and revitalizing. Therefore, in addition to the cuts, colours and blowouts that are performed with unparalleled mastery, the salon offers an extensive menu of capillary massage and treatments for both men and women, for all hair and scalp types. The staff are a walking testament to the efficacy of the Rene Furterer products available for purchase, and are happy to discuss their particular hair challenges and success stories.

The service at Fou de Moi is impeccable. Upon entering the salon, clients are wrapped in a flattering white belted robe and handed a cup of imported tea or Italian espresso before being whisked away by an expert stylist for a treatment or a cut. Lively conversation and soothing ambient music complete the experience, and clients emerge looking and feeling fabulous.
